New Mortal Kombat custom controller

Following the custom Mortal Kombat controller reveal, GameSpot's editors dropped by the booth to check it out and get some more details about its release.

Currently, there are plans for two versions of the controller: one for PlayStation and one for Xbox. The PlayStation version will work with both PS3 and PS4 while the Xbox version will work with both Xbox 360 and Xbox One
The price isn't finalized, but expect it to fall somewhere between $35 and $50

The original story appears below.

Gaming accessories company PDP has revealed a brand-new controller designed specifically for NetherRealm's upcoming fighting game, Mortal Kombat X, which launches in just a few months.

Brian Tong of GameSpot sister site CNET got his hands on the gamepad today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and shared some images and a video through his Twitter account.

Pictured above and in the video below is the Xbox One version of the gamepad, though PDP is also making one for PlayStation 4. Pricing was not announced.

Tong writes: "The D-Pad side is longer than the button side and it's designed to allow you to either hit the buttons with your thumb, or tap them out like an arcade stick designed with the help of 'OneHandedTerror.'"

Who's Next? -- Official Mortal Kombat X Announce Trailer

Mortal Kombat X has been officially announced for a 2015

Mortal Kombat X will be released on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, according to Warner Bros.

Given the fact the game will be cross-generational, it seems likely that the below trailer isn't made from gameplay footage, but so far both WB and NetherRealm have remained mum on exactly what it shows off. The game will apparently be on show at E3 next week, so hopefully we'll be able to tell you more very soon.

The studio has also claimed that MKX "launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy. For the first time, Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. Players step into an original story showcasing some of the game’s most prolific characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together."
