The PS4 will require a day one system update (software version 1.50)

The PS4 will require a day one system update (software version 1.50) in order to enable Online Multiplayer, Remote Play, video recording and pretty much every other PS4 feature we've been promised.

The update will be approximately 300MB and includes the following features:

Remote Play: Users will be able to access PS4 titles displayed on their living room TVs and play them on a PS Vita system over Wi-Fi networks by using PS4 Link (Depending on network environment or titles, remote play performance may vary outside of the home). We anticipate that most PS4 titles will be playable on the PS Vita system through Remote Play. The latest PS Vita system software version, to be released soon, will be required to use PS4 Link.

Second Screen: Users can use the PS4 Link application for the PS Vita system, and PlayStation App for iPhone, iPad, and Android-based smartphones and tablets, to use these devices as second screens in supported titles. PlayStation App has the ability to enable users to interact with games with their mobiles devices. For example on The Playroom, a title pre-installed in all PS4 systems that requires PlayStation Camera, users can draw pictures on their mobile device screens and flick them towards the TV. The images then appear as a 3D object within the game.

Record, take screenshots, and upload gameplay effortlessly: The PS4 system provides dedicated, "always on" video encoding systems that enables seamless uploading of gameplay. Users can share their epic triumphs by simply hitting the Share button on DualShock 4, take screenshots or scan through the last 15 minutes of gameplay, tag it and return to the game – the video uploads as the user plays. At the PS4 system’s launch, users will be able to share their images and videos with friends on Facebook and screenshots with followers on Twitter, though users will need to sign up for individual accounts to use Facebook and Twitter.

Broadcast and spectate gameplay: The PS4 system also enhances social spectating by enabling users to broadcast their gameplay in real-time to game fans around the globe, using Ustream and Twitch live internet streaming services (users will need to sign up for individual accounts to use Ustream and Twitch). There are two ways for users to view live broadcasts. First, the Live from PlayStation application on PS4 aggregates streams from all PlayStation users. Second, users can spectate friends’ PS4 gameplay from PCs, and applications such as Ustream, Twitch, and browsers, which are installed on their mobile devices. These applications can be easily started up via PlayStation App, and users can also use these applications to post comments to gameplay broadcasts. Furthermore, users with PlayStation Camera can stream camera images and microphone sounds along with their live gameplay broadcast.

Play as you download: This feature enables users to play supported digital titles as they are being downloaded. The time it takes to begin playing will vary depending on game data size and network environments, and not all titles will support this feature When a game is purchased, users can start playing after PS4 downloads a portion of the data, while the rest of the game is downloaded in the background during actual gameplay. Games may be downloaded in stand-by mode.

Multi log-in: A maximum of four users can log-in to a single PS4 system simultaneously. These players can use their own save data to play games, and also earn trophies on their own Sony Entertainment Network accounts even when playing a multiplayer game together on a single PS4 system.

Party (Voice chat): By using the Mono Headset bundled with the PS4 system, users will be able to chat with up to eight friends enjoying different applications or games. Furthermore, users can use Party to chat between PS4 and PS Vita systems.

Face recognition and voice commands: Users with PlayStation Camera will be able to register their facial image onto their PS4 system, and login to their system using facial recognition instead of DualShock 4. Furthermore, users can use either the microphone of the Mono Head set connected to DualShock 4, or PlayStation Camera to navigate through the PS4 home screen (PlayStation Dynamic Menu) with voice commands to start up games and shutdown the system, among other features; please refer to PS4′s online manual for recognizable voice commands.

Background music player: Users can enjoy gameplay while listening to music in the background with Music Unlimited, a cloud-based digital music service. Users can also voice chat with friends while listening to music. Learn more about Music Unlimited here (LINK: http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/music-unlimited/why-music-unlimited/).

Online Multiplayer: PlayStation Plus members will be able to play PS4 titles online with other players via the network. PS Plus makes it easy for members to join available online multiplayer matches in a variety of ways, including the ability to easily join a game from a live stream broadcast or Party voice chats.

Blu-ray Disc and DVD player: Users can enjoy not only gaming on their PS4 system, but also Blu-ray and DVD video contents. When using for the first time, users must connect to the internet to activate this feature.

PS4 launches November 29 in the UK.

Without the update we're not sure exactly what the PS4 will be capable of doing.

NBA2k14 PS3 review 2k does it again.

Nba2k14 PS3 review

Well 2k does it again, besides LBJ on the cover (Blazers fan).

I've been a 2k fan since 01, and every year since I get the game on day one,
and like most other people I go to my favorite team and try them out and like most other people get upset because I think they should be rated higher (and some times they should!). So when I saw 2k14 had a new rating system I was skeptical-- but this years is different and it shows, most of the NBA rosters are are completely accurate (for now), and time will tell as the real NBA season starts and players start going off or under, we will see how the new stat tracker works.

The controls this year are a little different as they over hall the right control stick, with dribble moves and shots, along with the new no look passes -- whale the no look passes can be fun if done right, most of the time they will led to turnovers in the middle of a drive or fast brake witch can get frustrating late in the game-- another new addition/upgrade this year is the way the blocks work, in past games it was hard to stop a fast brake dunk... or really just a dunk (or other shots, layups, hooks, under the basket shots, etc.) unless you where a monster big man or LBJ but this year is a lot different (better/easy), now with that being said it doesn't mean whenever you play online or with friends it's going to be a block fest the 2k team did a really good job on balancing it out (shots and blocks), one thing you will notice however is you will end up getting called for fouls later in the game and gold tending seems to get called a little more then past years (when going for blocks) but none of that will really interfere with your in joy meant of the game.

2k once again shows why it's spots games are the best around with NBA2k14 every player has been enhanced to look and play just as they do in real life and I mean every player even the rookies are in amazing detail right down to there tattoos. You will noticed that the arenas look pretty much the same as last year and the trophies are almost identical as last year and some cut seen's are a little outdated, but they're far and few. The sound and reactions of the players and crowed are amazing and makes you feel like you at the game live more so then past years. The player animations have been completely redone this year (well for the most part) and look amazing!

A cool new addition to this year game is the LBJ path to greatness mode (replaces the MJ crating a legend mode) where you can chose to stay with Miami and go for the 3 ring and crate a dynasty or you can go as a free agent and make your own path to the hall of fame with Lebron James, and all though I'm not a KingJames fan I found myself playing and having a lot of fan with this mode.

MyTeams is back this year and better then ever, so is of course MyPlayer mode with a bunch of new stuff to keep you wanting to come back well after your rookie season. Also back is Crews! This year (Thankfully)

Over all it's really easy to see why 2k is the best and most enjoyable basketball game (cough Live cough) around! A most buy! 9 out of 10 (you don't have to be an NBA nut to enjoy this game)

Tom Clancy

Tom Clancy – the hugely successful writer best known for his novels about CIA Agent Jack Ryan – has died aged 66.

The author, who was born in Baltimore, Maryland, also co-founded Red Storm Entertainment and lent his name to the hugely successful Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games. He was also due to continue this tradition with Ubisoft's latest offering, The Division, due out on next-gen consoles next year.

But he was best known for his Jack Ryan books, with The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears all turned into movies variously starring Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck as the popular hero.

The character is set to return to screens later this year, this time starring Chris Pine, in Jack Ryan: Shadow One.

Clancy passed away in a hospital in Baltimore last night.

Deus Ex Universe

Eidos-Montreal has announced Deus Ex Universe: a series of interconnected games in the Deus Ex franchise, planned to span PC, next-generation consoles, tablets, smartphones, books and graphic novels.

We first heard about Deus Ex Universe through a trademark filing spotted last month, but up until now we didn't know anything about it. In a blog post, studio head David Anfossi described Deus Ex Universe as "an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games.

"It continues, "It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before.

"Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc..."

Eidos-Montreal has apparently started production on the first product in Deus Ex Universe; a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. Anfossi also added that most of the team who worked on Deus Ex: Human Revolution have already jumped over to the new title.

While we may not have a name for it just yet, we have been given a piece of concept art that supposedly shows "shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex. It represents a "ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."

Given all the talk of "an ongoing, expanding and connected game world" that'll expand "on a regular basis", the temptation is to assume this may mean a Deus Ex MMO could be on the way in the near future. Until Eidos-Montreal gives us more details though, we're just going to have to be patient.

To tide us over however, the studio has announced the long-awaited Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC on October 22 in North America and on October 25 in Europe and Australia.
