Batman: Arkham Origins Beta Invites Going Out

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has begun inviting Batman fans to sign up for a beta test of Batman: Arkham Origins' recently announced multiplayer mode. Invites to register for the open beta began being sent out by email earlier this week. Those who qualify are being admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. When registering, an option for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the beta are offered. The PC version is left out of the beta, at least for the time being, as is Wii U, which will not be seeing multiplayer in the final game due to a desire to focus "on platforms with the largest multiplayer audience." The 360 and PS3 beta is scheduled to begin on August 7 and will run through August 14 Details on Origins' multiplayer were first revealed earlier this week. Being developed by Splash Damage (of Brink and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars fame), it will pit three teams against each other in the new Invisible Predator Online mode's 2 vs. 3 vs. 3 matches. The team of two consists of Batman and Robin, while each team of three is comprised of thugs who pledge allegiance to either Bane or Joker. Batman: Arkham Origins will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U on October 25.
