Games With Gold, September 2013: Free Magic 2013 and Rainbow Six Vegas

Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download Magic 2013 and Rainbow Six Vegas for free during two separate, two-week spans this month as the latest games in the Games With Gold promotion.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 can be had for free now through September 15, at which point it will return to its regular price of $9.99. (Xbox Live now uses real-world currency in lieu of Microsoft Points). Magic 2013 received an 8.5 in IGN's review, and while it's no longer the most current version of the game available,  Magic 2014 was released in June, it's still an accessible way to get into Magic.

Once the Magic 2013 deal runs its course, Rainbow Six Vegas will be free to Xbox Live Gold members starting on September 16. (Gamers in South America will instead get Shadowrun for free). Vegas' regular price of $19.99 will return at the end of the month. Although it's now almost seven years old, Vegas remains a strong game with an entertaining cooperative multiplayer mode in Terrorist Hunt.

Saints Row 4 Sells 1 Million Units, Gets Presidential DLC

Saints Row IV has sold more than one million units in just a week's time, and its first two downloadable content packs are now available, Deep Silver has announced.

The game was released in North America on August 20 and in Europe on August 23. The one-million-units-sold mark is the number of copies Deep Silver says the game has sold through, rather than the number of copies that have been shipped to retailers, which is often the figure that publishers share in the wake of a game's launch. The publisher also noted the PC version has sold particularly well in the first week, more than tripling sales of Saints Row: The Third on PC during its first week of availability.

New Borderlands 2 Updates and Hot Fixes!

On twitter today GearBox tweeted that they're working on some new updates for Borderlands 2, but for now they're rolling out some New hot fixes for Borderlands 2 on PC / Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3!
What are "Hot Fixes"? Keep reading to find out.

Further corrected the alignment of holographic sights on pistols.

Summoning Deathtrap with "Sharing is Caring" enabled no longer causes a Turtle shield's health penalties to be applied twice.

Adjusted drop rates of unique items from Doc Mercy, Mad Dog, Savage Lee and McNally to be more consistent across all modes.

A hot fix is automatically applied at the "Press Start" screen when Borderlands 2 is connected to the internet. In general, hot fixes are used to temporarily address issues between major updates. Hot fixes are not permanent -- they are temporarily stored in memory during the game session and lost upon exiting Borderlands 2.

To ensure that you receive hot fixes, make sure that your system is connected to the internet when Borderlands 2 boots up. A hot fix differs from an update in that an update contains changes that are permanently stored on your system and only needs to be downloaded once.

For more on hot fixes and updates to Borderlands 2, keep an eye on TheGamersTalk Podcast!
