Need for Speed Rivals developer talking with fans.

Need for Speed Rivals developer Ghost Games says it needs to do “a much better job” with the fans of Need for Speed going forward.

The studio aims to accomplish something “dramatically different” for the series, and to that end, Electronic Arts and Ghost Games will have “more open conversations” with fans ahead of the next Need for Speed game’s release in 2015.

Nilsson says, “We need to help define for [fans] what the Need for Speed experience is,and they can help us define what that experience is. Then we can stay true to what that experience is.”

Nilsson is already spending time on the phone with hardcore fans about the future of EA’s games. This is part of “a big movement inside EA, within every brand, really,” to engage fans in a transparent dialogue about development. “That definitely is part of the reason we’re going to do things quite dramatically different to the Need for Speed brand.”

SteamBox?!

Valve Corporation has announced big news is on the way for the gaming world next week. 3 separate announcements will be made next week, one of which was given a teaser that the video game developer gave out stating the "Steam Universe is Expanding." This could relate to the long rumored SteamBox, which would be an actual gaming console that would run Steam based games. If true, depending on the price points given as well as the library of games available, we could see this "SteamBox" stir up the industry real quick. The reveal will come on Monday, September 23, 2013 so you can expect us to update you all when the announcement breaks. #SteamBox

Final Fantasy XV news

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV will feature a relationship-driven storyline, which the publisher states is a first for the long running series. Thanks to next-gen technology, FF XV will have complex scenes rendered in real time alongside the gameplay, whereas previous FF titles needed cutscenes to tell a story. Square Enix has announced that the story of FF XV is pretty straight forward; An enemy nation takes a crystal from Noctis's home country, and he and his companions must fight to take it back. The key to this story will be in how Noctis communicates and interacts with these characters and how his relationships with these characters will change that will define the story of the game. Square Enix has also stated that the publisher is looking into expanding the FF XV world beyond the console version with a possible release on mobile phones and PS Vita. Final Fantasy XV is expected to arrive Late 2014 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. #FinalFantasyXV

PS Vita TV

Sony revealed a ton of stuff tonight at its pre-TGS press conference, but perhaps the biggest surprise (well, other than a PS Vita redesign) was the unveiling of an all-new piece of Vita-related hardware. It’s called PS Vita TV, and it lets you play Vita games on your television... and do a bunch of other stuff, too.

More info

PS Vita TV is a tiny piece of hardware. It’s about as big as a deck of cards, measuring 6cm by 10cm. It’s the smallest PlayStation hardware ever.
The idea of PS Vita TV is to let you play Vita games on the big screen using a DualShock 3 controller, but there’s actually more to it than that. While PS Vita TV has a card slot for Vita games, and accepts Vita memory cards, it will also let you use video streaming services (such as Hulu) and more. It will even let you play your PlayStation 4 via Remote Play with DualShock 4; this functionality will come later via system update. No us release date was given

Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune announced Mighty No. 9

Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune announced Mighty No. 9, a new project seeking funding on Kickstarter.

According to the project page, Mighty No. 9 features “classic Japanese side-scrolling action” in which the player takes on the role of Beck, “the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk.”

Gameplay sound similar to Mega Man in that players “run, jump, blast, and transform your way through six stages” that can be completed in any order. Players will steal weapons and abilities from enemies they defeat, and Beck’s “body itself can also reconfigure into new shapes, allowing for all kinds of new skills and abilities.”

The Last of Us’ New Multiplayer Mode

The new mode – called Interrogation – will come with patch 1.03, meaning the mode will be available completely free of charge.

Interrogation mode is "complicated," according to multiplayer designer Robert Ryan, but the crux of the mode is this: find and raid your opponents’ safe by interrogating fallen players via special executions. Your team must collectively interrogate five opponents to find the location of their lockbox, and interrogations take quite a bit longer than a special execution, leaving you susceptible to attack.

Interrogation comes in two waves – collecting information and then cracking the enemy safe – and you can only do the latter task by successfully completing the former task.

Patch 1.03 also comes with five significant fixes, listed below.
When reviving a teammate, your range has been increased.
Item bin locations have been rebalanced in some places.
Special executions can now be halted by teammates.
Matchmaking has been improved.
Item spawns have been tweaked to not give teams too many items.

Microsoft has today announced that its CEO Steve Ballmer is retiring his position

Microsoft has today announced that its CEO Steve Ballmer is retiring his position within the next 12 months.

He will stay on with the tech firm until his replacement is hired.
“There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time,” Ballmer is quoted as saying. “We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organization and we have an amazing Senior Leadership Team. My original thoughts on timing would have had my retirement happen in the middle of our company’s transformation to a devices and services company. We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction.”

Ballmer has been with Microsoft since 1980, and was the first business manager hired by Bill Gates in the company's fledgling years. He was named CEO in 2000 and helped to usher in the Xbox era when the company entered the games console business in 2001.
Recently, Ballmer has been overseeing the Xbox business at Microsoft, following former head Don Mattrick's departure to join Zynga in July. Wow what are your thoughts on this TgT family?#Microsoft

New Game Plan, For ps4 and ps3

Today at Sony's Gamescom 2013 press conference, Sony announced that gamers that buy Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV, Call of Duty: Ghosts, or Watchdogs on Playstation 3 will be able to buy the digital version for Playstation 4 for a "significantly discounted price" once it becomes available, presumably when the PS4 launches on November 15 in North America.

Although not stated explicitly, this program seems to be a direct response to GameStop's promotion that allows gamers to trade in their current-gen versions of games to get them on next-gen for just $10 more.
EA, Activision, Ubisoft and Warner Bros. were named as partners in this program. Presumably more games will be announced as part of this digital upgrade program in the coming weeks.

Is Call of Duty: Ghosts Coming to PlayStation Vita?

Call of duty game may be coming to the PS Vita?!

Activision and Sony have yet to make a formal announcement, but Call of Duty: Ghosts could be coming to PlayStation Vita if a GameStop Spain slip-up is any indication.

TheSixthAxis spotted a listing for a Vita version of Ghosts, which has since been removed. Activision's Dan Amrich says this is purely the work of an "over excited retailer." I guess we will find in the next couple of days at GamesCom

Grand Theft Auto V DLC Region-Locked

Grand Theft Auto V will be getting post-launch DLC, though Rockstar has warned fans it will be region-locked!.

A post on the Rockstar Support page advises fans against buying discs from other regions as it will result in issues when pre-order bonuses and DLC come to be played.

"It is generally recommended that you buy and play games that are designated for your country to avoid potential problems with DLC region-compatibility," it reads. "For example, a North American PS3 GTAV disc (BLUS31156 code on spine of box), Japanese PS3 GTAV disc (BLJM61019 code on the spine of the box) or Asian PS3 disc (BLAS 50639 code on spine of box for Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan. BLKS20442 for Korea) will play on a European PlayStation®3 console.

"However, if you live in Europe (where the GTAV disc code is BLES01807) you will likely have a European PSN account that will not be able to redeem a US pre-order code, and will only be able to download Region 2 (European) DLC, incompatible with non-European discs
