343 Industries has revealed Halo 5: Guardians!

343 Industries has revealed that Halo 5: Guardians will launch on Xbox One in the fall of 2015.

Bonnie Ross, general manager at 343, made the announcement on a blog post that detailed the future of the Halo franchise as a whole. Ross talked about Master Chief's next journey, saying, "Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we've invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen."

Ross also hinted at what we'd see from the franchise at this year's E3, stating, "Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a 'journey,' rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step. We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that Halo fans will be pretty excited [about] the special plans we have in store."

Ubisoft has announced Far Cry 4 with release date

Ubisoft has announced Far Cry 4, which will release on November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Far Cry 4 is set in the Kyrat, a fictional Himalayan region ruled by “a despotic self-appointed king,” confirming an earlier rumor. Whether or not Drive composer Cliff Martinez is involved remains to be seen.

Executive producer Dan Hay said Ubisoft Montreal, who is leading development on Far Cry 4, “wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise and exceed fan expectations.” Ubisoft likely won’t say much until E3 in June, but as usual, Far Cry 4 revolves around weapons, animals, vehicles to allow players to create and tell emergent stories

Capcom Announces Ultra Street Fighter 4 Release Dates

Capcom today revealed the release dates for Ultra Street Fighter IV. The game will come to PS3 on the 3rd of June, with the Xbox 360 version hitting June 4.

The June release dates are for the digital upgrade versions of the game, meaning only those who already own either Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be able to download Ultra Street Fighter IV. The price for the digital upgrade version is $15 USD.

Interestingly, one of the qualifying titles for Xbox's Games with Gold promotion in June is Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.

Full versions of the game, both digital and retail, will be available on August 5th for both Xbox 360 and PS3, each for $40 USD. The PC version of the full game and the upgrade will be available on August 8th in the Steam store for $30 USD.

Capcom is offering a pre-order bonus to players who pre-order any version of Ultra Street Fighter IV. Gamers who pre-order "at participating retailers" will get alternate costumes for the five new characters in this version. The five new characters are Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento and Decapre.

Additionally, gamers buying any version of the game, whether retail, digital download, or upgrade version, will receive all previously released costumes for the series, according to Capcom, "making this the definitive version of Street Fighter IV."

DayZ Hacked

Bohemia Interactive has confirmed an attack on its servers, with a hacker posting screenshots of what he claims to be DayZ source code on a game-hacking forum.

Though the original forum thread has now been removed, it has since been mirrored on Reddit. A user going by the name DevDomo posted a slew of screenshots of what he claimed to be the survival-shooter's source code files, as well as a brief description of how he accessed the servers.

Bohemia Interactive confirmed to Rely on Horror that an attack had been "detected," and that "the precise nature and scope of this attack is currently being extensively investigated."

Bohemia assures that no user data was accessible on the attacked servers, and that the ongoing development schedule has not been affected.

Nevertheless, the situation is worrying as it may open up the possibility of new hacks and exploits becoming available for DayZ.

Philips has allegedly filed a complaint against Nintendo.

Technology company Philips has allegedly filed a complaint against Nintendo stating that the latter has infringed on two Philips patents in the U.S., according to a document on Scribd.

According to the alleged complaint, which was posted on a Neogaf forum, the patents claim "protection for an interactive system for which a user can remotely control devices in an intuitive manner." These patents supposedly prevent the production, use, sale or import of "human-computer interaction systems" in the judicial district of Delaware.

Philips' complaint states that the Wii, Wii U and related equipment make use of technology protected under these patents. Section 16 of the complaint states that Nintendo possibly infringed on one of the patents, patent '379, deliberately. The Japanese company was aware of the infringement no later than Dec. 16, 2011, according to the document.

Philips is supposedly asking for compensation of up to three time the damages caused by Nintendo's alleged infringements, in accordance with 35 U.S. Code, which states that the court may allow up to that amount.

Specific to the 4PS controller is a removal "control disc," which offers extra control and accuracy for the d-pad. The 4PS controller also has a number of other features that may be familiar to those who've tried out the Scuf Xbox One controller, such as precision thumbsticks, built-in grip handles, and two back paddles which act as buttons that can be mapped according to your preferences.

Built with competitive gaming in mind, the 4PS controller is highly customisable - do you prefer your thumbsticks to be domed or concave? How long do you want them to be? And, of course, there are tons of colours to choose from.

Official Witcher 3 logo revealed

Independent Polish developer CD Projekt Red today revealed new logos for upcoming role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and for the studio itself.

The game's logo focuses on the mask of general Eredin, a leader of the titular Wild Hunt. What exactly is the Wild Hunt? Conveniently, CD Projekt Red also shed some light on that today. Here's how the developer goes about describing things:

"The Wild Hunt has always been thought to presage war, great plagues and death. Their origin unknown, these ghastly riders instilled fear in the hearts of men and are believed to be able to steal people’s spirits that would later join the cavalcade. They come at night, in the winter and their appearance is always preceded by the aurora borealis.

In The Witcher 3, the Wild Hunt are not mere bosses at the end of a corridor. They’re part of the lore, part of the system of folk beliefs, they’re both something that children say stories about to scare each other and an entity that can wipe out entire villages in one night. The Wild Hunt is essential to the whole Witcher universe and in The Witcher 3 it will finally take center stage.

The ones who command the Hunt remain a mystery even bigger than the Hunt itself. Their number and purpose are shrouded with mystery, their cold steel however is not--many have witnessed the Hunt’s atrocities, almost none survived to tell the tale."

As for CD Projekt Red's new logo, the company is updating it in a major way for the first time since the developer was established in 2002. The new "REDbird" logo is described thusly by CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski:

"We are rebels and rebels are free. Just like birds. The Northern Cardinal, or REDbird, is what we see ourselves in the industry: intrepid, bold and confident; flying high and aiming even higher. The color, cardinal RED, is something that connects it with another bird, a mythological creature close to our cultural roots and heritage—the Rarog, a small firebird believed to bring luck to people. RED stands for energy, the inner fire that drives us; it represents something very close to everyone here in the studio—the creativity and passion we harness from within ourselves to make the best RPGs in the world."

The Witness Coming soon?!

The next game from Braid designer Jonathan Blow, The Witness, still doesn't have a release date, but Blow has provided an update on the game's progress and identified two technical targets for the PlayStation 4 version that will make some gamers very happy.

In a PlayStation Blog post, Blow notes that it's now "been more than five years since I began working on" The Witness, although others have joined developer Thekla "at various times after that." A release date still hasn't been settled on (it was supposed to be a PS4 launch game at one point), as the game will be released only "when it's done." Blow did offer some encouraging news on that front, stating, "These days, 'when it's done' is getting closer and closer."

That said, Blow isn't going to hurry the game out the door just because it's getting close. "The Witness is an ambitious game with a lot of things for us to get right, and getting it right takes time," he said. "I don't want to rush the game out at the cost of quality."

Blow proceeded to offer a rundown on the work that's been done lately. He noted that most of the game's island has been modeled and that all of the "main line" content is complete, but there still remains work to be done on both fronts.

Then there's the vaunted resolution and framerate numbers: "At launch on PS4, we’re planning to render at 1080p and 60 frames per second," Blow said. "Right now we meet this target in many areas of the game, but not everywhere. But with more old-fashioned hard work, we should be."

The Witness is confirmed for release on the PS4, PC, and iOS. The former two will be released at the same time, with the iOS version coming soon after. Versions for "other platforms," according to the game's official website, will come "a bit later."

Titanfall running on PS4!

Titanfall is going multi-platform, and a build is running on PlayStation 4, claims industry insider Tidux.

Tidux, whose reputation has been built on a series of leaks and hints to NeoGAF, tweeted today.

Previously, Tidux leaked information about PS4 firmware update 1.70, including the technical nature of screenshot and video recording, Share uploading to sources other than Facebook, and other features. He or she also tells us that Uncharted 4 will be shown at E3, though that's far from a left-field call.

Regardless, anything marked as rumor, which Titanfall's existence on PS4 most certainly is, should be taken for what it is: an unconfirmed report. That said, fellow tipster famousmortimer, who tells us EA is sorely sorry for taking Microsoft's money over a PS4 release, seems to echo what Tidux has heard or knows.

For Titanfall 2, a multi-platform release seems far more likely, as Vince Zampella of Respawn Entertainment has said that the first Titanfall won't come to PS4. While details are hazy, we know that some kind of exclusivity deal has kept the original game tied to Xbox One. Still, EA and Respawn seem eager to bring the series to PlayStation, with EA declaring a multi-platform yearly rotation of shooters and Respawn saying a PS4 release of some kind is "definitely not out of the question."

Huge leak may show us everything Sony has planned for the PS4 at E3!

Before Sony has even sent out one invitation for its press conference, a major leak may have revealed everything the company was planning to show on stage.

DualShockers reports that an anonymous source with information from contacts within Sony and the BBH New York marketing firm has obtained a detailed list of Sony’s entire press conference, including every new PlayStation 4 announcement, every game demo and every publisher that will take the stage in June.

The full leak follows below, with the bold text signifying information that DualShockers has double-sourced.
Uncharted PS4 3 Minute Trailer showcasing ”In-engine” footage interspersed with gameplay segments. Visuals are supposedly unprecedented and set a benchmark for console graphics. Summer 2015 release date. It looks absolutely stellar. Features tropical setting and differing time periods with Nate/Francis.

Media Molecule’s new title will be a landmark title for Morpheus. 3D world building, beautiful, quirky visuals.Extremely creative and fun. Possibly related to the ”Entwined” trademark filed last week by SCE (not sure). Late 2015.

Gran Turismo 6 is coming to PS4 as 1080p 60FPS repackaged title in the vein of Gran Turismo 7: Prologue. Stunning visuals, extra features (social connectivity, new tracks, dlc etc). Coming mid-late 2015.

God of War 4 teaser will be present – will be CG with snippets of in-engine footage. A little early for reveal, but is designed to offset negativity surrounding canceled new IP and generate excitement – also to partially offset CG announce of Gears of War at Microsoft presser.
Late 2015. Date wont be announced.

Kill Strain trademark is related to Syphon Filter reboot for PS4.
Sony Bend working on revamping the franchise. Stealth, beautiful visuals and a possible Winter 2014 title. Bend finally getting to join the big boys.

Wipeout is also making the transition to PS4. Source is unsure of who is developing it, but hints that it could be Sony London, Evolution, or Firesprite.
Quantic Dream has a trailer prepared – unsure whether it is penciled in for Gamescom or E3.

Sony will be watching Microsoft’s presser earlier in the day to gauge whether additional titles will need to be slotted in to dampen hype.

Expect Dark Sorcerer- like visuals in real time. Off-topic, but still relevant – they are close to deal to become a Worldwide Studios developer, along with Ready At Dawn.
Speaking of Ready At Dawn, The Order:1886 will get a stage demo. Big title for Fall 2014.

Sony is expecting great things from said title – franchise hopes rest on its performance.
Ninja Theory working on a PS4 exclusive – possible Heavenly Sword sequel which was shelved a number of years ago. Quite far into development.

Sony London will be at E3. First AAA title in many years. 3rd person title. Gorgeous. They’re back with a bang,

Guerrilla Games bringing their RPG to E3. Provocative setting – very interesting. Insane visuals as usual. A good reaction to the title is expected. Will please the hardcore.

Sucker Punch busy at work on an inFAMOUS: Second Son DLC. Really cool. New powers. Possible new setting. E3 debut.

Sony Japan Studios debuting two, maybe even three titles. Project Beast – spiritual successor to Demon Souls. The other is The Last Guardian. Retooled for PS4, possible Winter 2014 title. The Other title is shrouded in secrecy.

Evolution will give Driveclub some time in the limelight. It’s shaping up to be incredible with jaw-dropping visuals. Demo release will be timed with the press conference.

Alongside this ample selection of new games, the source also noted that Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Konami, Capcom, Warner Bros, Activision, Square Enix and Take Two will all make appearances on stage during the event.

Rockstar was originally included on this list, but the source followed up to clarify that Sony might make announce a next-gen release for Grand Theft Auto V on Rockstar’s behalf.

Beyond new games, Sony will also bring more huge titles to the Instant Game Collection, show off Project Morpheus, talk about the Sony Entertainment Network and PlayStation Now and announce a price drop for the PS3 and PS Vita.

PS4 will be the focus of the press conference, but Sony will show some love to its various platforms and services throughout.
Check back in to see how accurate this anonymous source was when TgT settles in to cover the conference live in Los Angeles next month.

New Nintendo consoles?

New Nintendo consoles are coming, but you probably won’t be able to buy one?!

After another dismal year of console sales, Nintendo is finally looking to broach uncharted territory in order to give its floundering business a much needed boost. Bloombergreports that Nintendo is preparing to launch new consoles in emerging markets as early as next year, potentially capitalizing on China’s recently lifted ban on game consoles. According to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, China’s game industry could generate $10 billion in sales in 2015.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said in an interview that the consoles released in emerging markets would be entirely new products, as opposed to budget rehashes of the Wii U and 3DS. “We want to make new things, with new thinking rather than a cheaper version of what we currently have,” Iwata said. “The product and price balance must be made from scratch.”

As Nintendo struggles to reclaim the audience that made the Wii a smash hit in 2006, many critics and analysts have suggested that Nintendo should look into mobile gaming to supplement its home console business. Iwata has heard these suggestions, but believes that “the smartphone market is probably more competitive than the console business,” and after 30 years in the console business, transitioning to mobile would be very difficult.

Of course, just because Nintendo doesn’t plan to develop full mobile titles doesn’t mean the company is unaware of the potential for second screen functionality. Nintendo will be releasing a Mario Kart TV companion app for Mario Kart 8, allowing players to watch videos and track their progress on their mobile devices.

With fresh hardware for emerging markets and a long-awaited dive into mobile apps, Nintendo is finally showing signs of life. Hopefully these new strategies, along with the release of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, will give the company a chance to recover.  Yahoo Games.

Thursday May 8th The day of Delays... First Dying Light.. now ESO

First. Dying Light has been delayed and will now be released in February 2015, developer Techland has announced.

"We know you've been waiting on a Dying Light release date for quite some time now," it reads. "After careful consideration, we have decided to release our upcoming game in February 2015. Since this means Dying Light will launch a few months later than originally planned, we feel obliged to explain the reasons that influenced this important decision.

"When we started the development of Dying Light, we were committed to innovation. We wanted to give you a freedom of movement unprecedented in open-world games. After many improvements and months of hard work, we have now come so close to realizing our initial vision we feel we cannot stop before it is ready.

"We believe the Natural Movement element of our game will change what you expect from the genre, and we don’t want to sacrifice any of its potential by releasing too early. This quality-focused thinking underlines all our development choices and we hope you share our belief that the gameplay must always come first.

"The new date ensures that we can fully realize our vision of an innovative open-world game. We won’t need to make compromises or trade-offs on any of the five platforms we’re working on. For you, it means an outstanding, original game that makes the wait more than worthwhile.

Then later Bethesda confirmed The Elder Scrolls Online has been delayed on PS4 and Xbox One by about six months!

A blog post has been released confirming the delay we reported earlier, and offered some insight into the issues.

It reads: "We continue to work on the console versions of ESO, and game development has been progressing steadily, but we are still working to solve a series of unique problems specific to those platforms. Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer’s networks—which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process. It has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible. Though we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve."

However, it's not all bad news. Bethesda has announced that anyone playing the PC version of ESO before the end of June will be able to transfer their characters to the PS4 or Xbox One version of the title once it's available, and the console version of the title will be available at a reduced price of $20 / €14.99 / £12.99 / AU$20 for anyone who meets the eligibility requirements.
"The Elder Scrolls Online officially launched on April 4, 2014 on PC and Mac," it read. "While it has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn't going to be possible, we have made great progress, we have concluded that we'll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve." It's looking like ESO will be out sometime in December

GTA online The High Life DLC.

Rockstar has announced GTA Online will receive it's next update, The High Life, on Tuesday May 13.

On that date the multiplayer section of GTA 5 will be getting new high-end apartments, the ability to own two properties at the same time, four new vehicles, the Bullpup Rifle and more.
Who's Still playing and loving GTA?!

Five new real-estate options are coming to Grand Theft Auto Online at a range of upper-end locales, including Eclipse Towers and Richards Majestic, featuring new interior designs. The fact you can now own two properties simultaneously also opens up two garages to you, that can be filled with any of the old vehicles or one of the new four.

The Enus Huntley S (SUV), Dewbauchee Massacro(Sports), Pegassi Zentorno (Super) and Dinka Thrust (Motorcycle) will make their debut in GTA Online once the update is live, purchasable from Legendary Motorsport, or available from a garage property in Story Mode. This update also brings the ability to turn off contact between player-controlled vehicles in races, so you won't get rammed off the road.

Other additions to the game include the Bullpup Rifle, the Mental State player state that promises to make it clear whether opponents err on the side of action or passivity, along with new clothes, vehicle horns, celebrations and 15 new jobs, five of which are Contact Missions.

Halo content is coming to Minecraft!

Details are sparse at this point, but Microsoft has confirmed that Halo content is coming to Minecraft.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has seen mash-up packs in the past that introduced content from other titles--including Mass Effect and Skyrim into Mojang's sandbox building game. This content included new music, menus, worlds, and character skins, as well as updated items.

Based on the single screenshot shared with today's announcement, it looks as if the same type of content will be included when this new Halo crossover hits. We can see a player using a Master Chief skin (and holding what looks almost like a Needler), computer screens built inside a structure, and part of a Halo ring extending up into the sky.

Activision is spending $500 million to try and make Destiny a hit

CEO Bobby Kotick has revealed that Activision is spending $500 million to try and make Destiny a hit. That's half a billion dollars, which is very likely more money than has ever been spent on a video game before. Dang.

To put some perspective on this, the money being spent on Destiny is more than twice the amount EA reportedly spent on Star Wars: The Old Republic and a little less than double the $265,000,000 Rockstar paid to get GTA V made. The Reuters article cites analysts saying that Destiny will have to sell 15-16 million copies at $60 to break even. So, the final game has to make a very, very good first impression.

The bad times are getting worse at Nintendo

The bad times are getting worse at Nintendo.

The company posted a $228 million net loss for its fiscal 2014 year (which ended on March 31). That reverses 2013's profit of $71 million.

Hardware sales were to blame, and the Wii U was a major contributor to the problems. The company's flagship console sold just 2.72 million units last year and has life-to-date sales of just 6.17 million. To put things in comparison, the PS4, which was released one full year after the Wii U, has already topped 7 million units sold.

Just how bad is that 2.72 million? Consider that in late January, the company slashed its sales forecast for the system from an unrealistic 9 million units to 2.8 million -- and it still failed to hit that drastically lower target.

Software sales also fell slightly short of their reduced target, coming in at 18.86 million.

"The Wii U business as a whole showed slow growth," the company said in perhaps the most blindingly obvious statement to ever grace an earnings report.

The 3DS, which has been a savior for Nintendo in recent years, disappointed as well, selling 12.24 million versus a projected 13.5 million units.

3DS software also fell a bit short, but there were some standouts in that category. Pokémon X and Y sold 12.26 million units, Animal Crossing: New Leaf sold 3.8 million copies last year, bringing its life-to-date sales to 7.66 million units, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds all saw sales top 2 million.

Nintendo is vowing to return to profitability next year and is setting more reasonable targets. The company said it expects to post revenues of $5.81 billion and profits of just under $197 million.

It's still upbeat on the Wii U as well, saying it expects to sell 3.6 million more Wii U systems by March 31, 2015, largely on the strength of long-awaited upcoming games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.

NBA2k15 Cover is

Newly crowned NBA Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant has been named the cover athlete for the next iteration of the NBA2K basketball series.

“It’s something that I've been longing for for a while," Durant said on the conference call announcing his cover appearance, "and I’m just grateful for the opportunity.”

“I begged them to put me on the cover," Durant said when asked what 2K had to do to get him to agree to be on the cover. "I really think nobody plays the game as much as I do. I wanted to be a part of it.”

Asked what he enjoys most about the series, Durant said, “I enjoy playing the myPlayer mode. Taking your guy through a season, getting drafted…I feel that’s how it is as a real NBA player. It’s about the journey.”

And does he play as himself and his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates? “I never play with our team for some reason," he answered with a laugh. "In my house you have to pick a random team and just play. That’s how we see how good you are.”

Need for Speed Rivals developer talking with fans.

Need for Speed Rivals developer Ghost Games says it needs to do “a much better job” with the fans of Need for Speed going forward.

The studio aims to accomplish something “dramatically different” for the series, and to that end, Electronic Arts and Ghost Games will have “more open conversations” with fans ahead of the next Need for Speed game’s release in 2015.

Nilsson says, “We need to help define for [fans] what the Need for Speed experience is,and they can help us define what that experience is. Then we can stay true to what that experience is.”

Nilsson is already spending time on the phone with hardcore fans about the future of EA’s games. This is part of “a big movement inside EA, within every brand, really,” to engage fans in a transparent dialogue about development. “That definitely is part of the reason we’re going to do things quite dramatically different to the Need for Speed brand.”

NFL Draft channel coming to XBox One

Microsoft announced today that an all-new NFL Draft channel — as part of the NFL app — is coming to Xbox One, which will allow users to follow the three-day event on their home console.

The NFL Draft experience on Xbox One is also snappable, which lets users follow their favorite team's latest picks while watching Netflix or playing a game of Titanfall. And ahead of the draft, Microsoft says that Xbox Live Gold members can watch videos of top prospects and see expert's assessments of every NFL team, whether it's the Carolina Panthers or Seattle SeaHawks

"The control we give to fans is what makes our system unique,” said David Jurenka, executive producer of sports at Xbox. “If your team drafts Johnny Manziel and you want to see some clips of him, you can just jump in and do that. We’re taking what has traditionally been a passive TV experience and making it interactive and personalized.”

And after the NFL Draft ends, which starts Thursday and runs through Saturday, the NFL app will update over time to feature preseason content, staying fresh for users. The NFL app — and draft experience — is available now on Xbox One.

Titanfall Sells Nearly 1 Million in First 3 Weeks

Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall has sold 925,000 units in its first quarter, according to Electronic Arts.

This is "great," according to EA COO Peter Moore, as Titanfall on Xbox One and PC spent just three weeks on the fiscal quarter's calendar. It was Xbox One's best-selling game in March. This did not include the Xbox 360 release

First Tales from the Borderlands Screenshots

First Tales from the Borderlands Screenshots

One of the first things people say when they hear that Telltale is working on a Borderlands game is: “wait…what?

After all, how does a game series that’s known for bazillions of guns morph into something like The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us? Why make a Borderlands game that’s not a first person shooter?

Because, if you pause to take a breath between shooting everything in sight and stealing your buddies’ loot in multiplayer, you’ll know that Borderlands features some amazing characters and stories in a world that’s rich in dark humor. Handsome Jack, Claptrap, Tiny Tina, Angel, Moxxi, Zer0… it’s a big list. We (Telltale) are all about compelling characters and stories, and we see an amazing opportunity to build on what Gearbox has created.
